Growth Sessions Workshop – 31st July 2018

GS Technology, Wellbeing, Performance

Following on from my June workshop at Society1 and presentation at University of Central Lancashire, I’m excited to announce that I’m running a complimentary Growth Sessions workshop on 31st July 2018 at East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce in Clayton-le-Moors.

The theme of this Growth Sessions workshop is the connection between  Technology, Wellbeing and Business Performance.

In this 90 minute workshop, we’ll be exploring:

  1. The impact that culture and environment has on wellbeing and business performance.
  2. The habits and behaviours which are affecting your overall performance and the impact they have on the way you work.
  3. How to create small, simple changes to your existing routines to counteract bad habits and build better ones.

Booking for this popular session is essential via Eventbrite

The aim of the Growth Sessions talks and workshops is to support the wellbeing of knowledge workers, creative thinkers, and people working in the digital sphere. Growth Sessions is a platform for raising awareness, sharing tools and exploring ideas which empower you to improve your habits, strengthen your wellbeing, and activate more of your potential, at work and in life.

Here is what people are saying about Growth Sessions:

– Simon Price (Senior Lecturer – Employability & Innovation, UCLan)

A fun and informative session with real life application. Thoroughly enjoyed by all.”

– Catarina King (Society1)

If you’re based up North, come and join me to find out for yourself how Growth Sessions can help you. :)

Possibility & Identity (Do Contribute)

Who we think we are, and what we think we’re capable of, affect what is possible for us to achieve.

Possibility and Identity were the themes I covered in February and March for the Do Lectures on their Do Contribute publication. They are important concepts and ideas which keep cropping up.

You can read more about the three things I suggest to help create your own panorama of what’s possible here:

Impossible is Nothing

And in March’s article, I focused on the culture of ‘you’ vs the culture of ‘them’ and how to view what we bring to our lives and projects in a different way.

Don't be them

Thriving at Work is a KPI

I recently wrote a piece about wellbeing at work and why it’s an important business metric. It has been published on the Lancashire Telegraph news site and you can read it here.

Wise Words (Do Contribute)

Our language can either motivate or debilitate us.

Over the past year, with more exposure to inflated rhetoric, hyped narratives and fake news, I’ve become more aware of the power of language in our growth process. The words we use to describe ourselves and our world heavily influence how we think, feel, act and do.

So I wrote about it in my January 2018 article for Do Lectures “Do Contribute” on Medium. Take a look…

Finding Beauty (Do Contribute)

Beauty needs ugliness to exist.

I’ve discovered that even in the worst of situations, we can find beauty amongst the cracks if we’re willing to look.

My December 2017 piece for Do Contribute on Medium is an exploration of how we can define and seek beauty in our world.

MGS 17 – Purpose

Purpose People!

We talk a lot about finding our purpose, but what about living with purpose? It’s what helps us activate our potential.

In this episode of Mini Growth Sessions, I share the two key aspects that influence our ability to do things with purpose.

You don’t need a purpose to live your life, but your experience of life will certainly be more enriched if you live with it.

And here’s a bonus … Purpose + People = Purple! :)

As always, be brave, think big, stand tall.

MGS 16 – Mindset

Focus your mind!

Whether we can, or can’t, do well at something new, it’s all in our heads. Having the right mental attitude helps us to excel, and activates more of our potential. In Episode 16, I share three types of “mindset” that can help us improve when we’re doing something new.

If you want to find out more about setting yourself up for growth, I highly recommend reading Carol Dweck’s book “Mindset”. We can be limited by the beliefs associated with a fixed mindset, but the world becomes our oyster when we set our minds for growth.
