Mich Bondesio Doodles - Move Towards

Ever find yourself struggling to make something work?

When you’re pushing forwards, but it feels like there’s something holding you back. No matter how hard you try, there’s something in the way that’s stopping you or is too heavy for you to move.

Whether you’re grappling with breaking a bad habit, or starting a new business. Or making new friends, or speaking publicly in front of strangers.

Encountering what may seem like insurmountable hurdles and obstacles whilst trying to achieve your goals, can make life seem harder than it needs to be.

When you feel like you’re giving your all, but you’re not making progress, it’s time for a time out.

Stop pushing and evaluate.

As Henry Ford once said:

“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.”

So, try looking at your situation from a different perspective. And asking yourself a few hard questions:

  • What’s stopping you from moving towards what works?
  • Is there a different way to achieve what it is you want out of your work or life?
  • What about yourself might need to change for you to progress?
  • Is it likely your thoughts, habits and behaviours are contributing to your burden?

Are thoughts of past failures, let downs or disappointments adding unnecessary weight to your luggage? Are fears of what might happen when you get there holding you back?

These things aren’t really us. They’re simply things that we’ve experienced or think we will experience. They don’t actually define us. But we tend to carry them around because we think we have to. And we tend to get in our own way.

The best way to progress is to be mobile (in mind and body).

That means clearing space for forward motion. Will carrying around thoughts about past events and fears about the unknown help you move forwards?

Hell NO!

So why cart them with you? They are slowing you down.

Don’t make it harder on yourself.

The best way to make change is to travel light.

So, ditch the baggage. And hop on the box cart of possibility.

It’s lightweight, designed for adventure and it only goes one way – forwards.

That doesn’t mean the journey won’t still have challenges. But at least they are not ones of your own making.

What if you moved away from what doesn’t work in your life, towards what does?

Forwards = Onwards :)
